M S Gopalakrishnan was accompanying Chembai for a concert which was being recorded for someone in Calcutta. M S Gopalakrishnan was playing his part of the raga alapana. Chembai said: “Let the alapana go higher, it has to reach Calcutta.” Accordingly MSG played upto the Ati Tarasthaayi!!!
In another concert Chembai was being accompanied by M S Gopalakrishnan and T V Gopalakrishnan. Chembai was singing “Taye Yeshoda” in Todi. While singing the lyrics “Mayan Gopalakrishnan” in the Kriti, he started pointing his finger to MSG & TVG! The crowd started roaring in laughter!!
